OMAHA, NE – Machaela Cavanaugh and her husband Nick Brotzel are delighted to announce the birth of their son, Barrett Lee Brotzel born on July 10, 2018 weighing in at 8 pounds 15 ounces.
Barrett joins his sisters Della 4 and Harriet 3.

OMAHA, NE – Machaela Cavanaugh has officially filed to run for the Nebraska Legislature, seeking to represent her friends and neighbors in Legislative District 6.
“I am proud to officially submit my name for the office of Nebraska’s Legislative district 6” Cavanaugh said. “I am running because the people of my district, and across the state, deserve to have representatives who will put problem solving over partisanship. Our state is facing significant fiscal challenges. Cavanaugh Most Qualified Applicant to Fill Legislative Vacancy
Omaha, NE -- Today the open application for those who seek appointment to fill the Legislative District 6 (LD6) vacancy created by the resignation of former State Senator Joni Craighead is closing. LD6 resident Machaela Cavanaugh remains the most qualified applicant and Governor Ricketts should act quickly to appoint Cavanaugh to fill the seat.
Cavanaugh Seeks to Fill Vacant Seat in the Unicameral
OMAHA, NE -- Machaela Cavanaugh, an Omaha native with an extensive record in public affairs and community engagement, has submitted her application to fill the vacant District 6 seat in the Nebraska Legislature. Governor Pete Ricketts announced on September 6 that he is seeking qualified applicants to fill the vacancy.
Legislative District 6 includes voters from Central and West-Central Omaha.
